Told You So
I never jumped in and rescued you, but I wanted to I didn't tell you which way to go, 'cause I thought you'd know You had a problem with your new found wealth, you brought it on yourself I never told you I told you so, but I told you so
I never told you I agreed with you I don't think I do I wasn't sure quite what the whole thing meant, but I'm glad you went I never thought that it could be painless, but it is I guess I had myself fooled into needing you, did I fool you too?

812-The Carriage
Because I could not stop for Death, He kindly stopped for me. The Carriage held but just Ourselves; And Immortality.
We slowly drove, He knew no haste. And I had put away My labor and my leisure too For his Civility.
We passed a School where children strove At recess at the ring. We passed the fieldof gazing grain. We passed the setting Sun.
Or rather, he passed us. The ground grew a quivering and chill. For Gossamer, my Gown, My tippet only Tulle.
We passed before a house that seemed A swelling in the ground. The corince barely visable. The cornice in the mound.
Since then, tis Centuries and yet Feels shorter than the day. I first surmised the Horses heads Were towards Eternity.

so before blogger ate my post i was talking about vince gill's "go rest high on that mountain" and how my uncle played it at my grandpa's funeral and then he died like 4 months later and it was played at his as well (also played "amazing grace" ... still a rough song for me to hear..too bad its so common). i couldn't listen to it for a long time. finally last year i was able to hera the song and just cried and cried. i heard it again today, but i didn't cry. i got sad because i miss him, but i'm ok. and i think the difference is that i do think that i will see him again someday. and for the first time, i heard the line, "son, your work on earth is done" and that has made all the difference. it changes it from him being taken to him being given rest. and that makes me happy. i do still miss him a lot, but i like to think that he's happy and resting after a stressful life. and i enjoyed the rest of the song.
and thats the brief version
